Well Aging Home · Site Policy
The terms below govern how you may use this site — and, more importantly, what this site is and is not qualified to tell you.
Welcome to Well Aging Home (the “Site”), published by Rachel Blindauer (“we,” “us,” “our”). By using this Site, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
What this Site is
Well Aging Home publishes design guidance, product research, and personal caregiving experience related to aging in place. It is an editorial and design resource.
Not medical, therapy, or professional advice
Read this section first
Content on this Site is for general informational and design purposes only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment; not occupational therapy, physical therapy, or nursing assessment; not legal, financial, insurance, or tax advice; and not a substitute for a professional home safety or fall-risk evaluation.
Aging-in-place decisions depend on an individual’s specific medical condition, mobility, cognition, medications, and home. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider, licensed occupational therapist, or certified aging-in-place specialist before making changes based on anything you read here — particularly after a fall, stroke, surgery, hospital discharge, or new diagnosis.
Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you read on this Site.
In an emergency
If you or someone in your care is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Not construction, code, or installation advice
Structural modifications, grab bar installation, electrical work, plumbing, and ramp construction are subject to local building codes, permit requirements, and the Americans with Disabilities Act and its accompanying standards where applicable.
Descriptions of dimensions, clearances, weight ratings, or installation methods on this Site are general design guidance, not engineering specifications.
Weight-bearing equipment
Grab bars and other weight-bearing safety equipment must be installed into structural blocking or studs by a qualified installer. Improper installation can cause serious injury. Confirm all requirements with a licensed contractor and your local building authority before beginning work.
Affiliate relationships and product recommendations
This Site participates in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this Site, at no additional cost to you. Some products featured have been received free of charge or at a discount for evaluation.
Compensation does not determine our opinions. However, you should treat every recommendation here as coming from someone with a potential financial interest, and do your own research before purchasing.
We are not the seller. Prices, availability, specifications, warranties, and shipping are set by the retailer or manufacturer, change frequently, and may be inaccurate or out of date on this Site. Your purchase is a transaction between you and that retailer. All returns, refunds, warranty claims, defects, injuries, and disputes arising from a product are between you and the seller or manufacturer, not us.
See our full Affiliate Disclosure.
Accuracy and changes
We work to keep content accurate and current, but we make no warranty that it is complete, accurate, reliable, or up to date. Product specifications, safety standards, and building codes change. Content may be edited, updated, or removed at any time without notice.
