“Beautiful homes quietly support the people we love.”
Rachel Blindauer — Interior Designer & Family CaregiverThis guide gave me a starting point I actually felt good about. For the first time, safety didn’t feel like surrender.
— Sarah M., Daughter & CaregiverFinally, a resource that understands beautiful homes and aging parents can coexist.
— Michael T., Son & ArchitectI used the bathroom checklist the same weekend. My mother didn’t even notice the changes — and that’s the point.
— Jennifer L., Family CaregiverEverything You Need.
Nothing You Don’t.
Seven rooms, room by room, with the products Rachel specifies for clients and lives with in her own parents’ home.
Entryway
Independence begins before you reach the front door. Thresholds, lighting that greets you, hardware that opens with an elbow, and a bench for arrival and rest.
Kitchen
Storage that comes to you instead of you reaching for it. Shadow-free task lighting, lever and touch hardware, and heat-sensor shutoff before a fire can start.
Bathroom
The room that carries the most risk. Curbless entry with a linear drain, grab bars specified as design elements, high-traction tile, and touchless faucets.
Bedroom
A bed at a height you can leave with dignity. Under-bed motion lighting, circadian-aware bulbs, air purification, and nothing that reads as clinical.
Living Spaces
Seating you can rise from without momentum. Generous pathways, layered dimmable lighting, stable tables within reach, and rugs that stay put.
Outdoor Spaces
Level, well-drained pathways. Railings integrated into the architecture rather than bolted on. Lighting that guides without glaring, and planting that doesn’t demand more than the gardener can give.
Smart Home
The short list that actually works: automated pathway lighting, keyless entry, whole-home water shutoff, and fall detection. Nothing that beeps, blinks, or demands attention.
Small Shifts That Make
a Meaningful Difference
Every change was chosen for how seamlessly it integrates into a well-designed home — working quietly in the background, never drawing attention to itself.
Written From Experience.
Designed to Keep You Home.
Rachel Blindauer is an interior designer and family caregiver. She has spent years helping families navigate this — alongside her clients, and alongside her own family.
The products she recommends, she has tested herself. The advice she shares, she has lived.
Well Aging Home exists because she couldn’t find a resource that was both beautifully designed and genuinely useful. So she built one.
